WBU Toronto Optics Day

Date: Saturday, March 25
Time: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
Free event, no registration required, rain or shine

Our first annual optics day event was such a success we are doing it again! Bigger and better! More products, even better deals and a special guest.

Local celebrity birder, best selling author and now a Zeiss Optics ambassador, Julia Zarankin will be attending. Talk to Julia about her birding adventures, how and why she is a Zeiss ambassador but also a great chance to purchase an autographed copy of her best selling memoir, "Field Notes from an Unintentional Birder".

This a great GTA event for anyone interested in making their first optics purchase, upgrading their optics or has questions and would like to try the optics before making a purchase.

The event will take place in our store and in a covered area sheltered from the weather. If needed we will take the chill out through the use outdoor event heaters. We will have all of our optics available for people to handle and test. There will be dedicated staff to answer questions, help people set-up binoculars properly, set-up a spotting scope on a tri-pod for testing and demonstrate accessories such as adapters for digiscoping.

Bucket Draw Fund Raiser

The Birding Backpack Project

In support of this important program provided by Ontario Nature in partnership with For Youth Initiative. The partnership provides the following opportunity -

...birding hikes in Toronto for youth in the Keelesdale-Eglinton and Oakwood Village neighbourhoods. For this event we are in need of in-kind donations of binoculars for the events. Through providing birding equipment to event participants, we aim to reduce the barriers that youth face in engaging with the birding community, including the lack of access to equipment and birding knowledge, and connect under-represented youth in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) with the outdoors and wild bird conservation...

We donated 5 pairs of binoculars in 2022 and we will continue to support this important initiative in 2023. All proceeds from this fund raiser will go directly to support the program in 2023. This was a blog by one of the 2022 participants - From Window Birdwatching to Birding in Nature
