At Wild Birds Unlimited in Toronto, we continually seek new products. We are passionate about endorsing items that positively impact the world, be it environmentally, socially, or both. We have a particular interest in Canadian products that inspire. As a coffee enthusiast, I was eager to introduce this exceptional product line to our store for the reasons listed bit also it is a great tasting smooth coffee line.

I can say without a doubt the coffee brewed from the Totem roasted coffee beans is exceptional - highly recommended! I asked Nancy if there were any secrets to why their coffee was so good compared to other "certified coffees". Nancy told me one of the important differences, they use only single origin beans. Cheaper possibly non-certified beans are not used to reduce costs and taste.

Initially, I was unaware of the Cafe Avia product line that Totem Roasters had developed with local partners. However, upon learning from Nancy and Carl, two of Totem Roasters' owners, about the partnership and its support for non-profit bird conservation organizations, I was delighted and immediately recognized the value of this product line for our store.

Cafe Avia:
"Café Le Nichoir and Café AVIA are the result of collaboration between Le Nichoir Wild Bird Conservation Centre and Totem Roasters. We launched the cafebirdfriendly.org in 2019 to encourage people to drink Bird Friendly® certified coffee.

It’s a simple gesture all coffee drinkers can make to protect the winter habitat of birds that travel from our backyards each winter to the faraway farms that produce our coffee. 

To help get the word out we have partnered with other organizations. It’s simple: Many voices are stronger than one.

Each participating non-profit organization believes that the coffee you choose can change the world. By putting their logo on Bird Friendly® certified coffee they are helping to get the word out to more people.

In addition, for each bag sold with their logo the organization receives a portion of the selling price to support their own community or conservation programs."
